Fairytale Dreams

Ok, I really am quite addicted to "Grey's Anatomy." I just bought season one on DVD, so I've been watching all the old shows. One of the reasons that I like it so much is all of the quotes and thoughts on growing up. Here is one from today.

"At the end of the day is a funny thing, it turns up when you don't really expect it. Its like one day you realize that the fairytale may be slightly different than you dreamed, the castle, well, it may not be a castle."

Maybe that is part of growing up, realizing that our dreams don't always turn out just like we saw them. I think it is a lesson I'm slowly beginning to learn. Just because I had dreams and visions and I don't see how they are coming true, or how they ever will doesn't mean they won't.

It reminds me of the sermon series my pastor did on Joseph a while ago. Joseph had this HUGE dreams as a young man. He saw everyone bowing down to him, and didn't quite approach them with humility.

Then he went through this long period where I can imagine it was VERY difficult to believe that his dreams were going to come true. He was sold into slavery by his brothers, and then put in jail for something he didn't do. His dreams definitely weren't turning out as he had planned.

But in the end they did turn out. Sure, they were still a little different than he planed I imagine, yet when you look back, you can see how all the crazy stuff worked out in the end.

I suppose it will be the same way in my life. This isn't exactly where I imagined myself, yet I hope, and pray, when I look back I'll be able to see how God is working now to make my fairytale dreams come true, even if it isn't the castle I dreamed.

This is one of the many wisdoms that I have saved.

"May today there be peace within…
May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be…
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith…
May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you…
May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into our bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love.
It is there for each and every one of you.."

I really like the line about knowing you are exactly where you are meant to be right now.
