Spirit

I'm reading "Christ Plays in Ten Thousand Places" by Eugene Petterson right now. I'm not very far into it yet, but it is interesting. One of the things it talks about is how the Spirit is present in Creating, the breath of God, in the redemption, the baptism of Jesus, and in the church, through Pentecost.

"The continuing miracle that continues to astonish is that the same breath (life) of God that created havens and earth, that validated and blessed Jesus, is now breathed into ordinary men and women and formed into words that continues to give witness to God's Genesis-creation and Jesus-salvation."

That really strikes me as AMAZING! It is so easy to think of creation and the life of Jesus as these BIG events, and in many ways they are. But that same Spirit that guided those events is present in my own life now and can guide me to if I will listen to it. That seems such an amazing idea!

It is also so easy to think of spirituality as this kind of fuzzy, feel good idea, something that can't really be pinned down. But it is more than that. Here is the Spirit working in VERY visible, concrete ways. And at the same time, it isn't just "out there," it is something that is intimate, now working through the lives of you and me.
