Rite of Welcoming

Then we had our Rite of Welcoming and a mini-retreat. We went to Mass and after the Liturgy of the Word we went to the front and were asked to say our names as a sign of our desire to continue on this journey. The congregation was then asked if they would support us. Then we faced our sponsors who made the sign of the cross over various parts of our bodies as the priest read some things. Then our sponsors gave us a crucifix necklace for us to wear.

The most powerful thing about all of this was the sense that I was coming in on the home stretch. This whole conversion thing is very real and I'm almost there! Standing in front of our priest, sponsors, RCIA leaders, and everyone else in Mass and stating my intentions of being Catholic made it all very real!
